Lake District. George says: "In April '82 myself and Martin dragged my
cousin David (never again) Riley up Scaffel Pikes and through Windemere and
Keswick. David and Mart almost came to blows on a number of occasions, the
closest occasion being when we'd walked miles in the pouring rain to a boozer
( "almost there Dave!") and Dave is just savouring his second pint of best
when Mart up and struggles back into his sopping gear and heads for the door.
"Where you goin' then," Dave asks, with a sickly grin on his boat. "Well,
we've got to put in a few more miles before we camp, whatnot", Pie replies.
Dave looks to me for support only to find me hoisting my Karrimoor on to my
shoulders and heading out the door in a vain attempt to call Martin's bluff!!!
All long weekend Mart tried his utmost to show Dave what a tough outdoorsman
he was, much to Dave's disbelief."
